BIRÓ ESZTER: TÖREDÉKEK
Munkámban a kulturális emlékezet és a fénykép viszonyával foglalkozom családi fényképek felhasználásával. Töredékek című sorozatom a kép és szöveg integrációján keresztül, a családi fénykép rejtett tartalmait mutatja be. A családi képek értelmezéséhez, a történetekhez való hozzáféréshez egy mesélőre van szükség. Ezek a képek és történetek a családi tradíció részei, a mesélő szerepe pedig generációkon keresztül adódik tovább. A Töredékek mesélői közvetlen leszármazottakkal nem rendelkeznek. A sorozat ezért két részből áll; a családi képek és történetek feldolgozásából és egy fotósorozaton keresztül a mesélő bemutatásából. A kiállításon a sorozatnak csak egy részlete látható. A teljes sorozat öt könyv formájában vált teljessé.

ESZTER BIRO: FRAGMENTS
I am interested in the relationship between photography and cultural memory. My investigation focuses on family photographs. In the series Fragments, through the interplay of image and text, I present hidden meanings of family photographs. To reach these hidden layers, to make sense of the family photographs a storyteller is needed. These images and stories are part of family tradition, the storyteller role is part of the tradition which is inherited from one generation to another. The collaborators in Fragments doesn't have descendants to tell their stories. Therefore I divided the series structure into two parts, one which processes the images and their connecting stories, and from my photographs which introduce the storytellers. In the exhibition, only one of the five part series is presented. The project as a whole exist in a five-part photobook.
