SZALAI DÁNIEL: BROKEN TO THE ALGORITHM
Munkám célja a digitális technológiák ipari állattartásban való használatát vizsgálva a szarvasmarha mint „algoritmusba tört állat” bemutatása, illetve a megfigyelés és a kizsákmányolás problémáinak tematizálása.A gépi látás (CV) és a mesterséges intelligencia (AI) tejtehenészetben történő alkalmazása révén az automatizált farmok újfajta panoptikonként működnek, melyben az állatok állandó, teljes körű digitális felügyelet alatt állnak és egy viszonylagos szabadságot nyújtó, ugyanakkor teljesen zárt rendszeren belül, jutalmazásért cserébe önmagukat zsákmányolják ki. A kiterjedt technológiai infrastruktúra lehetővé teszi, hogy a farmon a tehenek életének szinte minden aspektusát számszerűsítsék, így a telepirányító szoftverek a 360 fokos fogyasztó nézet (360-degree customer view) koncepciójával összhangban, adathalmazokként kezelik őket. A csúcstechnológiát alkalmazó farmok tehát egyfelől a megfigyeléskapitalizmus és pszichopolitika állatvilágban történő implementálásának példái, másfelől a virtualizálódás és a gamifikáció által a humán-nonhumán szakadék mélyítésének újabb lépésének tekinthetők.

DÁNIEL SZALAI: BROKEN TO THE ALGORITHM
My project aims to present the cattle as “animals broken to the algorithm” and to thematize the problems of surveillance and exploitation by examining the use of digital technologies in animal husbandry.Through the employment of computer vision (CV) and artificial intelligence (AI) in dairy farming, the automated farms operate as new kinds of panopticons, in which the animals are under continuous and full digital surveillance, and exploit themselves in exchange for some reward within a fully closed system providing relative freedom. The extensive technological infrastructure allows for quantifying almost every aspect of the lives of the cattle on the farm, so the livestock management software, in line with the concept of the 360-degree customer view, treats the animals as data sets. High-tech farms are therefore examples of surveillance capitalism and psychopolitics applied to the animal kingdom, as well as another step toward deepening the human-nonhuman gap through virtualization and gamification.
